Gloria has asked to add this note . . . ‘the following letter stands out and proves that the Foundation is helping people and making a difference to people’s lives’ –
“Dear Miss Hunniford
I am writing to thank you for enabling me and many other people today, to enjoy our treatment in the Caron Keating Room at the Heart of Kent Hospice in Maidstone.
The Hospice runs a pamper day for carers each year. We are spoiled with food and attention, alternative therapies, support – even chocolates and a goody bag when we were leaving. Last year, I remember having reflexology in a pokey room, which I am sure was a problem for the wonderful volunteer therapists.
What a pleasure it was this year to be treated in the relaxing and spacious Caron Keating room. Thank you.
I read your book about your beautiful daughter’s brave fight against her illness as soon as it was published. It was a book which was with me for many weeks and months after I had finished it. I had always enjoyed watching her on Blue Peter with my children; I admired her professionalism and personality. I also felt close to her as I too am from Northern Ireland – Portrush, Co. Antrim. I was very upset when I read about her death and I think of you often because I cannot imagine how one can possibly cope with the death of a child.
I want you to know that your work in raising money for projects such as the treatment room in Maidstone is so appreciated. I think you are a very brave and special woman. Every time I see a white feather, I think of you and your brave and beautiful daughter.
Yours sincerely
Kathleen”
